Previous link, entitled Home schooling <sic>, is now broken with no redirect. This content, which was reviewed and screen saved by Schoolhouse in March 2012, was inaccurate and appeared to relate to English law. In Scotland, there is no ‘National Curriculum’ and written notification is not sufficient to withdraw a child from a council school.

Standard letter to parent request for update of home education provision (Feb 2012) containing misleading information. Local authorities do not grant permission for home education, their consent is required only to withdraw a child from a council school and their limited role thereafter is outlined in Scottish Government guidance.
